Apple has rolled out a minor iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1 update which addresses a security vulnerability that allows users to jailbreak their devices. The update is available for both the iPhone and the iPad.
Last week, the Unc0ver team had released a jailbreak that works with every iPhone that runs on iOS 11 and above including the recently released iOS 13.5. According to the update description, the new version provides important security updates and it is recommended for all users.
If you haven’t received an update notification, you can update your iOS device by going into Settings > General > Software update. In case you missed it, the recent iOS 13.5 software update has made unlocking faster on the newer iPhone models for those who wear a face mask.
You still can’t unlock with your face but you can now immediately key in your passcode when you “swipe up” on the screen. Previously, the device will try to unlock again via Face ID before it allows you to enter your passcode, which can be frustrating. This isn’t an issue for those who still use an iPhone that has a physical Touch ID home button.
