Sony WH-CH710N: Affordable noise cancelling headphones anyone?

When it comes to wireless headphones, one of the most popular models out there today is the Sony WH-1000XM3. They come with some of the best Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology in the market—and retail for a pretty hefty sum.

But if you’re in a market for something a little more affordable, the Sony WH-CH710N might just hit the spot. Now available in Malaysia at a retail price of RM699, Sony’s latest headphones offer a number of impressive features for its price, including noise cancellation.

Instead of Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), Sony’s new headphones utilise Artificial Intelligence Noise Cancellation (AINC) technology. This means that the headphones are continuously analysing ambient sounds in an environment with the help of dual microphones on the headphones.

But one of the most impressive things about the WH-CH710N is the estimated battery life of 35 hours on a single charge. In comparison, the more expensive WH-1000XM3 gives you around 30 hours, although that’s with ANC turned on. Just like its older brother, the WH-CH710N supports quick charging—you get 60 minutes of playback from a 10-minute charge, according to Sony.

Meanwhile, NFC is supported; you’ll be able to pair the headphones with an NFC-enabled smartphone by tapping the headphones. This is a feature that even works when the headphones are off on some of Sony’s other headphone models, so we do expect to see the same integration here.

The WH-CH710N also features Sony’s Extra Bass technology, which is ideal for EDM-lovers, according to Sony.

“If tracks like “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers, “This Is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris and “Never Be Like You” by Flume are staples on your go-to music playlists, then you’ll love Sony’s EXTRA BASS speakers and headphones.”

If you’re interested in picking the WH-CH710N up, Sony’s new headphones are now available at Sony Stores KLCC and The Curve, Sony Store Online, the Sony Store on Lazada, and authorised dealers. Colour options of black, white, and blue are available at a retail price of RM699.
