Huawei MateBook D 14 & D 15 Malaysia: Now available with Ryzen 7 at RM2,899

When Huawei first released their affordable MateBook D 15 laptop in Malaysia, there was only a single processor option of the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, which was naturally mated to an integrated AMD Radeon Vega GPU for graphics. However, the company has now expanded the range that’s available to customers, with Ryzen 7-powered MateBook D 14 and D 15 laptops now available.

Both laptops feature AMD’s Ryzen 7 3700U mobile processors, which are mated to Radeon RX Vega 10 integrated graphics. The MateBook D 15, of course, has a larger 15.6″ FHD display over the MateBook D 14’s 14″ screen, although most of the other internals are identical between both models.

That includes 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a single 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD. Unfortunately, while the Ryzen 5-powered model has the option to add a 1TB HDD for storage, there doesn’t appear to be such an option for the Ryzen-7 powered variants in the series.

Battery capacities between the laptops are also different, with the MateBook D 14 sustained by a 56Wh battery compared to the D 15’s 42Wh battery. Naturally, they also weigh differently—the D 15 weighs in at 1.53kg without the additional HDD, with the D 15 weighing at a lighter 1.38kg.

Huawei’s Mate Book D series, just like the more expensive MateBook 13 and MateBook X Pro, also comes with a 65W PD USB-C charger out of the box. In addition to the single USB-C port, there are also three USB-A ports and a HDMI port on both laptops.

Other features that are synonyous with Huawei’s laptop series are also included on the MateBook D 14 and D 15. These include a recessed webcam on the function key row, along with support for Huawei’s multi-screen collaboration feature. You’ll also get a fingerprint scanner on both laptops for easy access.

The Huawei MateBook D 14 and D 15 are priced at the exact same price: RM2,899. A single colour variant—Mystic Silver—is available, and Huawei also says that free gifts worth up to RM655.50 are up for grabs.
