New Proton X70 now features N95 cabin filter, upgrade available for existing owners

As teased recently, Proton has finally announced a new update to its X70 2020 SUV with the addition of a new N95 cabin filter. The Proton Intelligent Air Purification System (P-IAPS) will be offered as standard equipment on the locally-assembled Proton X70 2020.

The N95 cabin filter is designed to offer improved in-cabin air quality. It is said to be capable of removing 95% of particles larger than 0.3 microns and 98% of PM2.5 dust particulates. It added that this is an effective barrier against smoke particulates, dust, bacteria and other pollutants. The filter works in both fresh and recirculation modes for the air-conditioning system.

The existing Air Purifier System on the X70 will remain and it uses a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that removes 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 microns while its activated carbon removes odours and formaldehyde, while it absorbs and purifies smoke particulates. The system also has an ioniser that dischargers negative ions to cleanse the air.

With the combination of the Air Purifier System with the N95 cabin filter, the P-IAPS will offer a high level of protection against airborne pollutants for a cleaner and healthier environment.

N95 Cabin Filter for existing Proton X70

According to Proton, current X70 owners will be able to upgrade their dust and pollen filter to the N95 Cabin Filter for RM79, excluding labour charges. For those who are interested to upgrade can make a service appointment online or contact a Proton service outlet from 13th May 2020. Proton is also organising a service campaign from 18th May to 18th August where they are offering 15% discount on the price of the filter to all Proton X70 owners.

According to Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong, Proton is constantly looking at ways to improve its offering. He also added that Proton designers and engineers are working to fit the N95 cabin filter in their other models.

There’s no mention of any price revision for the updated model. Below is the On-the-road price without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak:

Standard 2WD – RM94,800
Executive 2WD – RM106,800
Premium 2WD – RM119,800
Premium X 2WD – RM122,800
