iPhone SE 2020 available for pre-order from Apple resellers at 9am on Monday

As announced by Apple, the iPhone SE 2020 will be available for order in Malaysia starting Monday, 11th May 2020. This is the latest affordable new iPhone that is priced from RM1,999.

Apple Authorised Resellers in Malaysia such as Machines and Switch have also revealed that pre-order will be available on their respective online stores from 9am on 11th May 2020. The 2nd gen iPhone SE is also listed on the official Apple Store on Lazada but you can’t order it at the moment. The iPhone SE is also expected to be offered on telco contract soon from Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile.

The iPhone SE 2020 is available in White, Black and (Product) Red. Below is the official pricing in Malaysia:

64GB – RM1,999
128GB – RM2,199
256GB – RM2,699

Essentially, the iPhone SE 2020 is an iPhone 8 with the same Apple A13 Bionic chip that’s powering the iPhone 11. Unlike the old iPhone SE, the new model features a larger 4.7″ Retina HD (1334×750 pixels) display and it retains a home button with Touch ID.

For imaging, it gets a 12MP main camera with OIS and it can shoot 4K 60fps videos. The front of the device comes with a 7MP FaceTime HD camera that supports portrait selfies. The battery life is said to be similar to the iPhone 8 as it packs the same a 1,821mAh battery.

Although this is the new budget offering from Apple, it still offers a number of “flagship” features such as 18W fast charging with an optional USB-PD charging brick and lighting to USB-C cable. There’s also stereo speakers and IP67-rated dust and water resistance.

Although it is still a 4G LTE device, it can support gigabit LTE connectivity and 802.11ax WiFi 6. The new iPhone also supports dual-SIM with a combination of an eSIM as well as a nanoSIM.
