The Ministry of Finance has provided more details on the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) cash aid that will be disbursed to eligible Malaysians. This is to help Malaysians from the B40 and M40 group cope with the economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The one-off cash handouts amounting to RM10 billion are part of the RM250 billion stimulus package that was recently announced by Prime Minister.
According to the MOF’s statement, the payment of the BPN will be disbursed in two separate payments at the end of April and May 2020.
As announced by the PM, the cash aid will be given to 4 different groups as listed below:
RM1,600 will be given to 4 million households with a monthly income of RM4,000 and below. RM1,000 will be paid in April and RM600 in May 2020.
RM1,000 will be allocated to 1.1 million households with a monthly income of more than RM4,000 to RM8,000. RM500 will be paid in April and another RM500 will be paid in May 2020.
RM800 will be allocated to 3 million single adults aged 21 years old and above with an income of RM2,000 and below. RM500 will be transferred in April and the remaining RM300 in May 2020.
RM500 will be allocated to 400,000 single adults aged 21 years and above with an income of more than RM2,000 to RM4,000. RM250 will be paid in April and RM250 will be paid in May 2020.
For B40 households and single adults that have successfully registered for Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), you won’t need to apply or register a new application. The cash aid will be transferred to your registered bank account for the BSH program.
For the M40 households and single adults, you also won’t need to apply if you are already registered with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN). The BPN cash aid will be transferred to your registered bank account with LHDN.

For eligible Malaysians that have not registered with BSH or LHDN, you can apply for the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional cash aid at http://www.hasil.gov.my/. The portal will start accepting new application starting 1st April 2020.
Do note that those that Malaysians that register on 1st April onward, the BPN will be disbursed one-shot in May 2020. For those in Sabah and Sarawak, you won’t receive the cash aid in April and it will be disbursed together with the BSH 2020 payout.
