Xiaomi has a cheaper “Lite” 5G phone that costs half the price of a Mi 10

Apart from the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi has also introduced the Mi 10 Lite 5G, its most affordable 5G smartphone for the global market. Being the entry-level model in the Mi 10 series, you can expect watered-down hardware but it still comes with an impressive upper-midrange Qualcomm chipset that comes with an integrated 5G modem.

Xiaomi has yet to release the full spec-sheet but they have revealed the Mi 10 Lite 5G will feature a 6.57″ AMOLED display that comes with a tiny notch for a 16MP selfie camera. It will run on a Snapdragon 765G with 5G that’s configured with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

The rear gets a cube camera bump that’s placed on the top left corner. It will feature a 48MP main camera with AI capabilities but there’s no mention of the other 3 cameras. Since this is a budget model, we are guessing that the remaining cameras could be an ultra-wide-angle lens, a macro shooter and a dedicated depth sensor. Some of the camera features include 120fps slow-mo, ShootSteady, Vlog mode and Night Mode 2.0.

The device will come with a 4,160mAh battery, which is slightly more than the current Mi 9 Lite. It will support 20W fast charging via USB-C but there’s no mention of any wireless charging support.

In Europe, the device will be priced at EUR 349 (about RM1,686). Apparently this is for the 64GB storage option and the 128GB storage variant will be priced at EUR 50 more. According to Xiaomi, the Mi 10 Lite 5G will go on sale starting May 2020.

Here’s a recap of the entire Mi 10 series pricing for the European market:

Mi 10 Pro
8GB RAM+ 256GB storage – EUR 999 (about RM4,828)

Mi 10
8GB RAM + 128GB storage – EUR 799 (about RM3,862)
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – EUR 899 (about RM4,345)

Mi 10 Lite
?? RAM + 64GB storage – EUR 349 (about RM1,686)
?? RAM + 128GB storage – EUR 399 (about RM1,928)

So far there’s no info about its pricing and availability for Malaysia. Do note that European pricing is typically priced much higher than Malaysia. In case you missed it, Xiaomi Malaysia has recently introduced the Redmi Note 9S which starts from RM799 for the base model with 64GB of storage.
