As announced by the MCMC, Celcom is among the big 4 telcos in Malaysia that will offer free 1GB of high-speed data daily from the 1st of April until the Movement Control order is lifted. Celcom CEO Idham Nawawi has just tweeted that all Celcom postpaid and prepaid customers will be able to enjoy this free data offer automatically.
This free 1GB data offer will be available only from 8am to 6pm. According to the FAQ, the free data will be provisioned into your account daily and you won’t need to perform any manual redemption. Any unused quota will be forfeited and it won’t be carried over to the next day. You can also use the free data for hotspot.
Prior to this, Celcom is offering free data access to WhatsApp and Microsoft Office 365 applications for free between 8am to 6pm daily during the MCO period. On top of that, users can also get free calls to the Crisis Preparedness Response Centre & Movement Control Order hotline.
For Xpax customers, you can get 6 hours of unlimited data usage for only RM2. This is double the duration of its original 3-hour validity for the RM2 ultra hour pass. Do note that hotspot usage is not applicable under the ultra hour pass.
