[UPDATED] GrabFood gives you cashless ‘Tapau’ option with minimal contact

They said that this was done in accordance with the Prime Minister’s announcement today. Grab has also reiterated its commitment to working with the relevant authorities during these trying times.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement control order, businesses are trying to adapt to the new rules that have been established. Essential services like banks, ATM’s, clinics, supermarkets and wet markets are still operating. Restaurants are also open however, people are not allowed to sit and dine there, only take-away or delivery is allowed. In light of trying times like this, Grab Malaysia is introducing new features to cater to everyone’s needs.

GrabFood now has a ‘Tapau’ option or self-pickup. Customers can choose the option on the application, where they will be able to pick-up the food once it is ready from the restaurant. This can help with the social distancing effort that is being adopted nationwide. This eliminates waiting time for customers and there is no delivery fee involved and most importantly there is minimal contact with others. This is extremely crucial during this period as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads. Since all orders are paid via GrabPay, customers can simply walk-in, pick up and go without worrying about payment at the shop.

This option is available at selected restaurants such as Texas Chicken, Old Town White Coffee, KGB, Salad Atelier, absolute thai among others. If you are headed out to collect the food, it is advised that you do it alone as per the restrictions.

GrabMart introduces Pasar

They have also launched Pasar which is an extension of the existing GrabMart. Their aim is to deliver fresh vegetables, poultry and seafood to their customers and they are starting with the TTDI market for now. They hope to rope in more markets in the future. However, this option is only available to those living nearby TTDI and at the time of writing, the shops were temporarily closed.

GrabMart is also going to be available in Penang, JB, Melaka, KK, Kuching and Ipoh by the 25th of March. Grab is offering many discounts to boost the sales of merchants and delivery partners. Some of their discounts include free delivery, 30% off GrabFood Signatures, and 50% off GrabMart’s health essentials.

Grab also assured its customers that they have roped in tens of thousands of drivers nationwide during the MCO to provide for their customers. Currently, the MCO is set to end on the 31st of March. However, reports have revealed that there is a possibility for it to be extended by up to two weeks. There are a total of 1,518 cases in Malaysia and 14 deaths.
