Realme 6 Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The Realme 6 has finally arrived in Malaysia. This is Realme’s latest mid-range contender that boasts a fluid 90Hz display, a quad-camera setup and a big battery for less than RM1,000.

Pricing and availability

The Realme 6 is only offered in a single variant and below is the official pricing in Malaysia:

Realme 6 (4GB RAM + 128GB storage) – RM999

The device will go on sale from Friday, 27th March 2020 but you can get it for only RM799 during Lazada’s 8th Birthday sale. The special promo is happening from 12am to 2am on 27th March, while stocks last. The device is offered in two colour options – Comet White and Comet Blue.

Realme 6 hardware specs

The Realme 6 gets a 6.5″ Full HD+ IPS display that boasts a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and 120Hz sampling rate for better gaming response. Under the hood, it runs on a 12nm MediaTek Helio G90T processor that’s optimised for mobile gaming.

In India, the Realme 6 is offered with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, but at the moment, Realme Malaysia is only offering a single 4GB RAM + 128GB storage option. If you need to expand storage further, the device comes with a dedicated microSD card.

For taking pictures, the Realme 6 has a 64MP f/1.8 main camera (Samsung GW1 sensor) and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, plus two more cameras for macro and portrait. For selfies, the punch-hole on the top left corner of the screen houses a 16MP selfie camera. For instant unlocking, there’s also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor which doubles as a power button.

Powering the device is a large 4,300mAh battery and it supports 30W Flash Charge via USB-C. According to Realme, you can get a full charge within 60 minutes. And yes, it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Out of the box, it runs on Android 10 with realme UI skin on top.

Although the retail price is RM200 more expensive than the Realme 5, the new device offers a better display, improved cameras and a faster 30W fast charging support. Even the processor is a significant upgrade and it’s the same unit that’s powering the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
