WhatsApp might be releasing a new feature which allows you to cover your tracks better than the existing delete message feature. At the moment, you can delete your messages but you’re only allowed to do so within an hour and you have to do it manually. Anything that goes beyond that time frame can only be deleted for yourself. The new feature will allow all of your messages to self-destruct automatically. Some folks over at WABetainfo had spotted this beta version and this is a sign that it will be made available to the public soon.
The feature was spotted on WhatsApp Beta version 2.20.83 and 2.20.84. On these versions, the delete message feature is seen to be offered for private conversations. When the option is clicked, you can schedule when you want the messages to be deleted. It can either be 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year. Once that is established, a small timer icon appears next to the message, indicating that the message is set to be deleted at a particular time.
As of now, all that we do know is this feature is under development and might be released in the near future. This disappearing feature was also spotted in previous beta versions. Currently, the newest feature introduced by WhatsApp is the dark mode and it has been made available for all of its Android and iOS users.
