GrabFood and GrabCar to run as usual during restricted movement

Malaysia will be placed under restricted movement from 18 to 31st March 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19. During this period, Grab has assured that all of its services including GrabFood, GrabExpress, GrabMart and GrabCar will continue to operate as usual.

According to Grab Malaysia, they remain committed to serving and supporting all of their drivers, delivery partners, merchant partners, passengers and staff as they go through this difficult time together. Grab is expected to provide more updates soon.

For the time being, Grab urge everyone to follow the Ministry of Health’s advice and adopt measures to protect yourself, your family and the community.

As announced yesterday evening, the restriction of movement prohibits all forms of gathering which include religious, sports, social and cultural event. All Malaysians are urged to stay at home and all business must be closed except for essential services which include supermarkets, markets, grocery shops and shops that sell daily necessities.

The announcement added that all government and private premises must close except for essential services such as water, electricity, energy, telecommunications, post, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas, lubrication, broadcast, finance, banking, health, pharmacy, fire and rescue, prison, ports, airports, security, defence, cleaning, retail and food supplies.

In terms of travel, Malaysians are restricted from travelling overseas. Returning Malaysians are required to undergo health checks and self-quarantine for 14 days. Our borders will be closed to all tourists and foreigners during the period.

As of yesterday, there are a total of 553 COVID-19 cases in the country with zero deaths reported so far. 511 are currently receiving treatment while 42 people have recovered and discharged.
