TNG RFID also accepted on East Coast Expressway (LPT1) from 1 April

Apart from LPT2 which is managed by PLUS, Touch ‘n Go RFID is also supported on East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) starting from the 1st of April 2020. This means you can enjoy seamless RFID payment experience throughout the East Coast expressway starting next month.

Highway concessionaire Anih Berhad (a member of MTD Group), which also manages Kuala Lumpur – Karak Expressway and Kuala Lumpur – Seremban Expressway has made the announcement via its Facebook page.

The East Coast Expressway uses a closed-toll system similar to the North-South Expressway, whereby the toll charges are calculated based on your entry and exit points. Phase 1 (LPT1) of the expressway between Karak–Jabur is managed by ANIH Berhad, while Phase 2 (LPT2) which covers Jabur-Kuala Nerus is managed by Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of PLUS). Existing payment methods such as the physical Touch ‘n Go card and SmartTAG are still accepted.

According to ANIH Berhad, there will be RFID fitment centres located at Temerloh and Gambang R&R (both bound) which will be open from Friday to Sunday between 10am to 6pm. You can also locate other RFID fitment centres here. A new RFID tag now costs RM35.

To use TNG RFID, you’ll need to get a Touch ‘n Go eWallet which supports card payments and top-ups via online banking. For extra convenience, you can also enable auto-reload which will top up your account when your credit goes below your preset minimum balance.

It also appears that PayDirect is not yet supported at the moment, and all road users must use the same payment method for all entry and exits. If you’re using RFID to enter the highway, you must also exit via the RFID lane to avoid unnecessary time penalties.
