Here’s a faster way to get a refund for your Touch ‘n Go card

You probably own several Touch ‘n Go cards and it is likely there is some leftover credit in them. If you want to request for a refund, it can be very troublesome and on top of that, there are also extra charges especially if your card is dormant.

To address the dormant card and refund concerns, Touch ‘n Go has announced an improved solution using their Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

To ensure that your physical TNG cards remain active at all times, all you’ll need to do is to add the card on the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Not only this allows you to check your card balance and to enable PayDirect, but it also ensures that your TNG card will never be dormant again. In case you didn’t know, PayDirect allows you to pay for toll using your eWallet balance when you use your card on the Touch ‘n Go and SmartTAG lane.

To get your money back quicker, Touch ‘n Go has revealed a faster eRefund process for those that have a verified Touch ‘n Go eWallet account. If you’ve completed the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process, you can get refunds to your eWallet within 24 hours if the value is less than RM10. If the value is more than RM10, you’ll receive the eRefund within 7-14 working days.

The eRefund will be transferred to your eWallet. At the moment, it has to go through Touch ‘n Go’s portal and you can’t request a refund through the TNG eWallet.

Previously, the Touch ‘n Go refund process can take up to 30 days to process and the amount is credited to your local bank account. According to the eRefund page, the TNG card will be inactive after a year and there’s a fee of RM5 for the first dormant. For every subsequent 6 months, the RM5 dormant fee will be charged again. You can learn more about the eRefund here.
