In the ongoing Streaming Service battle, it is all about the original content that you provide your viewers with. Apple TV+ landed a huge hit recently as they announced that have acquired the rights to the “Beastie Boys Story” documentary directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkvoich, Her, Where the Wild Things Are).

For the uninitiated, the Beastie Boys are an iconic trio of rappers that took the world by storm in 1981. The trio consist of Michael Diamond, the late Adam Yauch and Adam Horovitz. Better known to fans as Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock.

This documentary was inspired by the best-selling “Beastie Boys Book”. It aims to provide viewers with an intimate and personal story of the band and 40 years of friendship.

So if you’re a fan of hip-hop or the Beastie Boys, this is one documentary you wouldn’t to miss as it will take you through a journey of the trio that is entertaining, enlightening and gives you a closer look at their creativity and career.

The film is set to premiere on the 26th anniversary of the release of Beastie Boy’s number one charting album, “Ill Communication”, which coincidentally reunites the duo with director Spike Jonze, who directed the music video for the album’s hottest hit “Sabotage”.

“Beastie Boy Story” is produced by Grammy Award winner Jason Baum, Amanda Adelson, directed and written by Spike Jonze and executive produced by Michael Diamond, Adam Horovitz, Dechen Wangdu-Yauch, John Silva, John Cutcliffe, Peter Smith, Thomas Benski, Dan Bowen, Sam Bridger, Michele Anthony, David Blackman and Ashley Newton.

A special cut of this documentary feature will first open exclusively to select IMAX® theatres for a limited engagement on the 3 April, before premiering globally on Apple TV+ on 24 April.

The film is produced for Apple by Fresh Bread and Pulse Films in association with Polygram Entertainment. The deal was negotiated by Endeavor Content and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.

Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, as well as select Samsung smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices and at tv.apple.com, for RM19.90 per month with a seven day free trial. Customers who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free.
