This is the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro

Huawei is expected to launch its latest flagship duo, the P40 and P40 Pro, very soon. Before the devices are announced, we now get a clear look at the top of the line Huawei P40 Pro thanks to serial leakster @evleaks.

Huawei P40 Pro

The Huawei P40 Pro looks similar to the Honor View 30 series as it gets a punch-hole display and a huge rectangular camera bump on the top left corner. This time, Huawei is putting two selfie cameras upfront that occupies a rather wide space on the display. Unlike the Mate 30 Pro, there’s still a normal volume rocker on the right, which is more practical to use than using the screen‘s edge gestures.

The Huawei P series is their photographic-centric flagship and this time they are fitting a total of five cameras on the rear. Like its predecessors, the camera system is also co-developed with Leica. As seen above, it still retains a periscope camera system that comes in a rectangular lens.

If you look at the label, it states VARIO-SUMMILUX-H 1:1.8-4.0/18-240 ASPH. This is an indication that the main camera has an aperture of f/1.8 and the max aperture for one of the 5 lenses is f/4.0. The focal length for this setup ranges between 18mm to 240mm.

Huawei P30 Pro

As a comparison, last year’s P30 Pro has a focal length that ranges from 16mm to 125mm, and it offers up to 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom and up to 50x digital zoom. Looking at the P40 Pro label, it appears certain that Huawei is pushing its telephoto capabilities with 10X optical zoom and you can go even closer in hybrid and digital zoom.

So far we don’t have the full specs just yet but you can expect it to run on the latest Kirin 990 5G processor and it will likely come with an AMOLED display that ranges between 6.5 to 6.7″.

Huawei P40

For the standard P40, 91Mobiles have revealed a couple of renders for the device. It retains a similar-looking exterior and it gets a modest triple-camera setup. It is said to come with a smaller 6.1-6.2″ AMOLED display and it will also run on a Kirin 990 5G SoC.

Upfront, the device will still get a dual-selfie-camera setup that’s placed on the top left corner of the screen. The folks at 91Mobiles have also shared its colour options which seems to be unchanged from the current P30 series.

We don’t know when they are launching the P40 but it could take place at MWC 2020. What’s more or less certain is that both devices will ship without Google Mobile Services due to current restrictions by the US government. What do you think of the new Huawei flagship?
