SoCar in partnership with Tenaga Nasional Berhad is now offering the fully electric Renault Zoe on its fleet. This is a greener transportation option as you can drive around without using a single drop of petrol.

At the moment, the Renault Zoe is available only at two locations namely Shaftsbury Square and D’Pulze Shopping Centre at Cyberjaya. You can find it by locating the green plug pin on the SoCar app. It costs RM24.27 per hour to rent and there’s no extra charge for excess mileage. Although the car has a rated maximum range of slightly more than 200km per charge, you can only book it for a maximum of 5 hours.

SoCar is currently having a promo where you can get 40% off when you book using the promo code “SOELECTRIC”. For a booking of 5 hours, you’ll only need to pay RM77.81 instead of RM126.35.

Before you start driving, you’ll need to press the “plug” button to stop charging and unplug the cable from the front of the vehicle. When returning the car, be sure to plug in the charger back so that there’s enough juice for the next user. With a 100% electric vehicle, you won’t need to worry about refuelling before returning the car.

According to SoCar, this electric is option is made possible by Tenaga Nasional, which has helped to install charging stations at their SoCar EV Zones. If you’re new to SoCar, you can sign up here.

It is worth mentioning that Comos used to offer electric car-sharing in the Klang Valley with the Renault Zoe. Unlike SoCar, the booking system was web-based and you’ll need to use a physical card in order to unlock or lock the vehicle.
