Celcom faces another network disruption, may last up to 5 days (UPDATED)

[ UPDATE 10/12/2019 8:23AM ]: Celcom has clarified that they are currently conducting a planned migration to optimise data and voice experience on their network. Below is Celcom’s official statement:

In our effort to continuously optimize your data & voice experience on our network, Celcom Axiata Berhad would like to announce that we will be conducting a planned migration exercise from 9 December until 13 December 2019. The planned exercise will be conducted in stages at selected areas. Our tech teams are working continuously to ensure that our customers experience on our network may not face any kind of disruption or degradation during this exercise.

We regret any inconvenience caused.

[ UPDATE 9/12/2019 5:35PM ]: Celcom has updated that customers may experience some degradation in data and voice services from 9-13 December 2019. They added that this is a planned network activity and their technical team is working hard to minimise the impact.

====

If you’re using Celcom and Xpax, you may experience difficulty in making and receiving calls, as well as getting online. Its network is currently facing another disruption, which not only affects Celcom but other Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) such as Yoodo and Tune Talk.

According to Celcom, the network disruption is expected to last for 5 days between 9th to 13th December 2019 and it affects voice and mobile data services. Their technical team is currently working to minimise the disruption as much as possible.

However, not all Celcom customers nationwide will be affected. In a tweet reply, the blue telco clarified that the “network maintenance” will only affect customers in the Klang Valley, Selangor, Johor and Sabah. Both Yoodo and Tune Talk has also announced the network interruption through their respective Twitter accounts.

[ UPDATE 9/12/2019 5:30PM ] Both RedOne and XOX Mobile have confirmed that their users may face voice and data interruption.

=====

At the time of posting, we can still get connected on Celcom’s network but download speeds are incredibly slow. When we ran a Speedtest, we only got between 0.15Mbps to 0.5Mbps. The last major Celcom outage was in September 2019.

How is your Celcom experience at the moment? Let us know in the comments below.
