Vivo S1 Pro Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The Vivo S1 Pro has been launched in Malaysia, with the latest mid-range smartphone hitting the market today. Essentially an improved version of the Vivo S1, the S1 Pro features a number of interesting features, including a unique-looking rear camera module.

According to Vivo, the S1 Pro has an emphasis on meeting the needs of the youth consumer—which somewhat explains the choice to go for the slightly odd-looking camera module placement.

Here are the details.

Price & availability

The Vivo S1 Pro is available in two colour options—Knight Black and Fancy Sky. A single variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will be available on the 7th of December 2019, while there will also be an S1 Pro Superday sales event on the ame day at Central i-City with a lucky draw and limited rebate promotions.

Specs

The Vivo S1 Pro features a 6.38″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. There’s only a single variant that offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while it’s sustained by a 4,500mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C.

You can also fast charge the Vivo S1 Pro via 18W charging, thanks to Vivo’s Dual-Engine Fast Charging tech.

The rear camera setup is positioned rather oddly, which you can see from the photos. It’s a quad-camera setup, comprising a 48MP main camera that uses a Samsung GM1 sensor that shoots 12MP images by default in 4-in-1 mode. It also comes with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter and a 2MP f/2.4 bokeh camera.

Meanwhile, there’s a 32MP front camera that’s housed in a tiny notch on the display. The device runs on Vivo’s FunTouch OS 9.2 skin layered over Android 9, and there is also an in-display fingerprint scanner.

In addition to that, the S1 Pro comes with Vivo’s MultiTurbo tech that supposedly increases the smartphone’s performing speed for gaming, while there is also a Game Center where users can check on their phone’s performance. And for online gamers, there’s a “Voice Changer” feature that can be used in-game.
