Oppo shrinks its smartphone lineup to just three series

Oppo will be streamlining its smartphone portfolio to just three lineups – Find, Reno and A series – with each targeted at a different segment of consumers. This means the F11 Pro is probably the last device under the F series.

Oppo Find

Sitting on top of the range is the Oppo Find Series which is targeted for those looking for cutting edge technology. The Find series is often seen as Oppo’s flagship lineup and the last device to launch locally is the Oppo Find X that features a sliding camera mechanism.

Oppo Reno

Meanwhile, the Reno series is designed for what Oppo calls the “creative personnel” and it replaces the former premium-mid-range Oppo R series. Early this year, we’ve seen their first batch of Reno devices sporting a wedged-shaped pop-up camera that runs on higher-tier Snapdragon 710 and 855 processors. Most recently, they have expanded the lineup with the Reno2 that gets a Snapdragon 730G processor and a quad-camera setup for its highest variant.

Oppo A

For the more affordable segment, there’s the A series which Oppo claims to be chosen by many as their first smartphone. The move appears to be a consolidation of their current A and F series which is a similar approach as Samsung. Early this year, Samsung had combined its entry-level Galaxy J into the Galaxy A lineup which now covers from budget sub-RM500 devices such as the Galaxy A10 to premium-mid-range RM2,499 models like the Galaxy A80.

The first Oppo A device to be announced after this streamlined approach would be the Oppo A9 2020. The device features a large 5,000mAh battery, USB-C charging and a quad-camera setup featuring a 48MP main camera. The device will be announced in Malaysia on 18th September 2019.
