The Asus ROG Phone II was recently launched in China and this is a high-performance gaming smartphone with an impressive 120Hz display, Snapdragon 855+ processor and a huge 6,000mAh battery. What’s even more amazing is its pricing which is very competitive for the hardware it packs.
Pre-orders for the ROG Phone II went live at midnight on 24th July 2019 and it is exclusively available on JD.com. In less than 24 hours, the e-commerce platform received more than 2 million pre-orders. According to Asus, this marks a new record for a gaming smartphone pre-order volume on the site.
In China, the ROG Phone II is priced at 3,499CNY (about RM2,095) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. Meanwhile, the top-spec model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is listed at 5,999CNY (about RM3,593).
As a comparison, the first-gen ROG Phone was launched in Malaysia at RM3,499 for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version and RM3,999 for the 8GB RAM + 512GB storage variant.
The ROG Phone II is a much bigger device as it comes with a 6.59″ Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor. The device still retains a pair of front-facing stereo speakers, an extra side-mounted USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The internal cooling system has been improved and they have also introduced new AirTriggers that offer improved haptics and response time.
The device also comes with a 48MP + 13MP dual-camera combo which is similar to the ZenFone 6. For live streaming and selfies, there’s also a 24MP front camera. Despite having a larger battery, the ROG Phone II is still relatively slim at 9.5mm but it’s noticeably heavier than the first model as it weighs 240 grams.
