This mobile broadband service lets you enjoy wider coverage from four telcos

Roaming Man, the pocket MiFi service for international travellers has just introduced a new mobile broadband service for local use in Malaysia. Instead of relying on a single telco provider, Roaming Man’s solution allows you to switch to one of four major telcos in Malaysia. This enables you to get the best 4G signal possible at different locations.

At the moment, they have three local broadband options and the base plan costs RM65 for 30GB of data and it is valid for one month. The MiFi is like a personal hotspot and it allows you to connect up to 5 devices. There’s a deposit of RM200 required for all plans which will be refunded to you when you return the MiFi in good order. If you need more data, there’s a 60GB option at RM110/month.

For those that need the device for a longer duration, Roaming Man also offers a 60GB plan valid for 3 months which will cost you RM280. That calculates to RM93.30/month for an average of 20GB a month, which is quite pricey. You might as well go for the base plan that offers more data for RM65/month.

According to Roaming Man, the “Switch” feature lets you enjoy the benefit of 4 major telcos in one package. They didn’t mention who the specific telcos are but we are guessing it could be Maxis, Celcom, Digi and U Mobile. If the current connection is slow, all you’ll need to do is to restart the MiFi and it will connect to another telco. We are told that the MiFi will select a telco based on signal strength. This service could be useful for those who need reliable mobile data coverage on the go without having to subscribe to multiple providers.
