Tablets are typically media consumption device and these days, they could potentially replace your laptop when you add on accessories like a keyboard, mouse or even a stylus. It has been a while since Samsung introduced a flagship tablet and it appears that they are skipping the Galaxy Tab S5 and they are jumping straight to the Galaxy Tab S6. Apart from having upgraded hardware, this appears to be Samsung’s first tablet to feature two cameras at the rear.
The folks at Sammobile have obtained exclusive images of the upcoming flagship tablet and this will succeed the Galaxy Tab S4. The tablet is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPad Pro and it is said to be running on Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM. Since this is a high-end tablet, the new slab is said to come with an internal base storage of 128GB and there’s also the option for a larger 256GB model.
Being a productivity tablet, you can expect an S Pen similar to the Galaxy Note series. What’s interesting is there’s now a place for you to dock and charge the stylus at the same time. Looking at the image above, there’s a groove on the rear that you could possibly attach your S Pen when it is not in use.
For the first time, the Tab S6 also features a dual-camera setup. Tablets aren’t usually great for photography but there’s a possibility that the secondary shooter is a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) that can enable 3D or AR tracking features.
Like its previous models, you can expect Samsung to release a host of accessories including a keyboard cover. For road warriors, you’re likely to be able to transform the tablet into a PC with its built-in Samsung DeX function. The Galaxy Note 10 launch is happening on the first week of August and we think it is more practical for Samsung to launch their tablets at IFA 2019. The annual tradeshow is taking place in the first week of September in Berlin.
