HP recently introduced an authentic wood finish on their Envy line of laptops, and it seems that their alternative designs are here to stay. The leather-bound Spectre Folio — the world’s first convertible PC — was announced in Malaysia alongside the Tango X, a smart printer, and a few updates to other product lines.
The Spectre Folio will come with a 13.3-inch WLED-lit LCD display (FHD/4K options available) and will come with a genuine chrome-tanned leather finish.
The Spectre Folio is also a 3-mode convertible PC—you can use it in the traditional laptop form, fold the screen back and use it as a tablet, or slide the screen forward towards you for a movie session.
This is made possible by a natural hinge, which HP says is made with full-grain leather. And with many convertible laptops, the Spectre Folio will deliver up to 21 hours worth of battery life, while professionals who are regularly on the go will also appreciate the optional Gigabit-class 4G LTE support.
The HP Spectre Folio is available now from RM7,999 with Intel’s i7-8565U processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The leather Spectre Folio is available in one colour option only — Cognac Brown.
HP also unveiled the Tango X, a wireless-enabled printer that is designed to work seamlessly with a Smart Home. Using the HP Smart App, users will be able to print, scan, or even send photos from their mobile phones—from virtually anywhere.
The Tango X will also come with voice-command support and is claimed by HP to be able to print twice as many pages when you use HP high-yield ink cartridges. However, the printer isn’t available in Malaysia yet—HP tells us that we can expect to see the Tango X available by the end of the year, with a slated price of RM799.
At the same time, updates to some of HP’s current product series were announced; including the Officejet Pro, OMEN by HP, and Envy series.
