Samsung Galaxy A80 is definitely getting NFC and Samsung Pay in Malaysia

A few days ago, the Samsung Galaxy A80 had passed SIRIM certification and strangely, NFC was missing in the description. Turns out, the same device has been relisted again and this time it has NFC included.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 with the model number SM-A805/DS was originally approved on 6th May 2019 with the type approval code RFBF/68B/0419/S(19-1736). That listing has been updated with NFC on 10th May with the approval code RFBF/68B/0519/S(19-1736).

This confirms that the highest Galaxy A model will definitely come with NFC and it supports Samsung Pay. During the regional launch in Bangkok, we were told by Samsung Malaysia that Samsung Pay will be supported on the Malaysian model. This will allow you to make payments with your smartphone and it can replace your physical Visa Paywave and Mastercard Paypass cards.

The Galaxy A80 is the only smartphone from the latest 2019 Galaxy A series to support Samsung Pay in Malaysia. The more affordable Galaxy A70 supports Samsung Pay in other markets such as India but it isn’t available on our local units.

To recap, the Galaxy A80 is Samsung’s first smartphone to feature a new Infinity display that has no notches or punch-holes at the top. This offers an immersive viewing experience with its 6.7″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel. For selfies, it adopts a rotating camera mechanism that can turn its triple-camera setup to the front. You can learn more in our first impressions.

So far Samsung has yet to reveal the local pricing and launch date for the Galaxy A80. The device is expected to go on sale by the end of this month, before the Raya holidays.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!
