U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Time dotCom as part of its road to 5G strategy. The mobile operator will be using Time’s high-speed and low-latency backhaul solution for its 5G live trials.
U Mobile says they are committed in bringing the benefits of 5G technology for Malaysians and the telco will conduct 5G trials in various verticals from education to healthcare to gaming. The trials will ensure that the right 5G architecture is in place in order to maximise its full potential when 5G begins to roll out commercially.
According to U Mobile’s CEO, Wong Heang Tuck, Time is the first telco provider in Malaysia and the second service provider in the world to achieve Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 3.0 certification. With that, U Mobile is confident that Time will be in the best position to provide appropriate mobile backhaul solution for their 5G live trial network.
