In January this year, Unifi had an #khabarbaik event where they shared a couple of updates including its Chinese New Year promo. Unfortunately, for those who are expecting a new product launch, many were obviously disappointed.
The broadband provider has just sent out media invites for yet another #khabarbaik event that’s happening next week and it appears that they have something new to show. What could this be?
According to the invite, they will be sharing more updates for their #khabarbaik movement and they will be having a special technological demonstration at a venue in Puchong. It isn’t clear what technology they would be showcasing and we are guessing that this could be 5G-related since live trials in Malaysia are expected to commence next month.
If it’s 5G, we expect to see a demo for fixed wireless access which could be an answer for existing Streamyx customers that have no access to fibre. We won’t be surprised if Unifi is demonstrating a similar solution as YTL’s Terragraph trial in Penang which is capable of delivering gigabit speeds wirelessly. That solution uses existing street furniture such as utility poles and buildings, which makes it easier and more cost effective to deploy than fibre broadband.
Do note that, this is just our wild guess at the moment. For all we know, it could turn out to be less impressive than we thought. The event is taking place next Tuesday, 26th March 2019. Stay tuned to us for the latest update.
