Just recently, we managed to get a quick hands-on with a Huawei P30 series smartphone at a concert. It wasn’t the ideal situation to test out its zoom capabilities as the location was very dark.

Now a short video has surfaced online and it was taken with an unreleased smartphone. Parker Walbeck, the filmmaker that shot the video, isn’t allowed to reveal the name of the device but he did say that it will be announced very soon.

From his experience, he mentions that the device is the best overall smartphone camera system that he has ever used. He said that it comes with several camera lenses and one of it offers an insane optical zoom that can shoot high-quality images when zoomed in.

He also mentions that the software helps the digital zoom to retain more quality, allowing you to zoom even closer while having a usable image. The filmmaker also praised the camera’s low light capability especially its Night Mode.

Based on the clues provided, this is highly likely to be the upcoming Huawei P30 Pro. Zooming and Low Light are two key focus areas for the new flagship and they are more or less confirmed by their latest teasers released today.

Do take note that there’s post-production work involved in the short video. According to the disclaimer in the video’s description, there were additional elements involved such as colour grading, speed changes and sound design for creative purposes. On top of that, most of the shots were taken with a gimbal stabiliser.

The Huawei P30 series will be announced on the 26th March 2019. Since Malaysia is a key market for Huawei, we expect pre-orders to be available shortly after its global announcement.
