Grab lets you rent a Toyota Vellfire with a driver from RM480

Apart from offering point to point Grabcar rides, Grab has just introduced a new rental service where you can book a 6-seater MPV plus a driver for a couple of hours. This provides greater flexibility and you can use this rental service for your own city tour.

In the Klang Valley, th GrabCar Rental service is only applicable from the KLCC area and it’s available from 9am to 8pm daily. You’ll get a Toyota Vellfire with a driver and the vehicle can accommodate up to 6 passengers.

According to Grab, there are 3 booking packages available:

4 hours – RM480

6 hours – RM680

8 hours – RM880

If you exceed your booking time, Grab will charge an additional RM3 per minute. According to Grab, the drop-off point must be within the Klang Valley. However, if you plan to drop-off at Genting Highlands or KLIA/KLIA2, there’s an additional surcharge of RM50.

The total fare will be displayed before you book and it is inclusive of petrol and driver charges. However, it excludes toll and parking charges that are incurred during the booking.

Another thing to take note is that this rental feature is only available on demand, so you can’t schedule your ride and driver in advanced. I think having a scheduled booking option is important since most people would prefer to plan their city tours in advance.

To place a booking, just go to the Grab app, select Car and then tap on the Rent tab on the top right corner of the screen. This service accepts both cash and card payments via the app.

Apart from the Klang Valley, Grab is also offering the rental service in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah as a pilot service. There’s no mention of the vehicle model but it can also carry up to 6 people or 4 people if you have extra luggage. In Kota Kinabalu, the rates are cheaper at RM250 for 4 hours and it goes all the way up to RM650 for 12 hours with petrol and driver charges included. You can learn more on Grab’s rental page.
