Xiaomi is launching the Mi 9 on 20th February

Just hours before Samsung unveils its Galaxy S10, Xiaomi will be having a launch event where they will announce their new Mi 9 flagship smartphone. The announcement is taking place on the 20th February 2019.

The teaser image on Weibo doesn’t reveal the device but they did say that it will be super powerful and it is the best looking Xiaomi smartphone yet. No venue was mentioned but we reckon the launch is happening in China.

Based on earlier speculation, the Mi 9 will be running on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor and it could come with a triple-camera setup. There are also rumours that it may feature a periscope camera design which is similar to OPPO’s 5X camera concept.

The Mi 9 is also rumoured to come with a 6.4″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with a water-drop notch and it will come with a slightly larger 3,500mAh battery. As a comparison, the current Mi 8 has a 3,400mAh battery capacity while the Mi 8 Pro is much smaller at 3,000mAh. Since Xiaomi is heavily pushing for 5G in 2019, you can expect them to release a 5G variant for the Mi 9.

Xiaomi is also having a launch event at MWC 2019 at the end of this month, so there’s a chance that the Mi 9 will be making its global debut very soon.
