Other than the Galaxy S10 and S10+, serial leakster, Roland Quandt has also dropped a couple of press images of the entry-level S10 model. Initially, it was expected to be announced as the Galaxy S10 Lite but it appears that it will be now called the Galaxy S10e.
Since the Galaxy S8, Samsung has made its dual-curved display a standard feature on its high-end smartphones. In the past, you are able to choose between a flat or a dual-curved display model like the Galaxy S6/S6 edge and Galaxy S7/S7 edge.
Since the Galaxy S10 will definitely cost above RM3,000, the Galaxy S10e is seen as a budget alternative. In a way, this is Samsung’s own “iPhone XR“, where it offers flagship specs at a lower price tag. To cut down on price, the screen is smaller at 5.8” and the screen is flat.
As seen here, the bezels on the Galaxy S10e looks quite thick and it also comes with a punch-hole display for the selfie camera. The sides look similar as it also gets a dedicated Bixby button. Unlike the bigger S10 and S10+, the S10e will not come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Instead, it gets a side-mounted unit that also doubles up as a power button. This is similar to the current triple-camera Galaxy A7.
For imaging, the Galaxy S10e is shown here with just two cameras at the back instead of three. There’s also a headphone jack since we can see a cut-out on the bottom of the device.
Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy S mini models in the past, the new S10e is expected to run on a top of the line Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 processor as its bigger brothers. The device is speculated to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
According to Roland, the Galaxy S10e will launch with Prism Black, Prism Green and Pearl White colour options. A yellow version is expected to be introduced later followed by a blue variant. The device will be launched alongside the Galaxy S10 and S10+ on 20th February 2019.
Any ideas what does the “e” in S10e stands for?
