The OnePlus 7 might come with a slider mechanism

OnePlus is expected to release its next flagship earlier this year as the company known for making snappy device is aiming to ship the first 5G smartphone in Europe. For the upcoming OnePlus 7, it appears that they are going to kill the notch and it doesn’t involve putting a hole in the display.

Based on a photo shared on SlashLeaks, the OnePlus 7 is alleged to have a full edge to edge display as seen above. This approach enables it to push a high screen to body ratio that’s similar to the OPPO Find X and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. Since there’s no room for a front camera, it is suggested that the next “flagship killer” will be a slider phone. Of course, it is too early to tell if it uses a manual or motorised mechanism.

If you look closer, the top has a rather long and slim earpiece speaker and the plastic-looking holder has cut out holes for what appears to be a front camera and proximity sensor when the device is extended. PhoneArena has ruled out that this is a Find X disguised as a OnePlus device, as there is an extra alert slider in red just above the power button.

We can’t really confirm the legitimacy of the photo and this could be a very good photoshop work. Looking at the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, it isn’t surprising that OnePlus is trying to shrink the notch into oblivion. Since it’s 2019, you can expect the next flagship to run on the latest Snapdragon 855 processor with at least 10GB of RAM for the top spec model.

The OnePlus 7 could be revealed in the next couple of months as the launch window has gotten earlier for the past few releases. The OnePlus 5 was introduced in June 2017 while the OnePlus 6 was announced in May 2018. What do you think if OnePlus uses a slider mechanism? Let us know in the comments below.
