MUJA: Bluetooth-enabled mobile gaming touch pad that sticks to your phone

Mobile gaming is a serious thing and if you’re looking for that extra advantage over the competition then maybe this device can to the trick.

The device is called Muja. It’s a Bluetooth touchpad that sticks to the back of your smartphone with suction cups.

The touchpad is customisable with up to four additional buttons (R1/R2 and L1/L2) that you can operate simultaneously with the standard on-screen controls. The idea is that the additional buttons will give you the ability to perform actions faster than just using on-screen buttons alone.

The device is powered by a 450mAh battery and Handscape Inc — the makers of the controller — say that you can get up to 56 hours of play time from a single charge.

Concept-wise the idea of having additional buttons might provide an advantage to players but when I asked Hanif (an avid mobile gamer and writer from our BM site, bm.soyacincau.com) what he thinks about the controller, he’s sceptical.

He said that if you’re really serious into mobile gaming, especially when playing the more intense games like PUBG, you’re better off with using the on-screen controls.

The reason behind this, he says, is that the Bluetooth connectivity of the touchpad could interfere with the WiFi connection of your device and cause higher latency. In addition, using Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone may also mean slower reaction times than compared to the on-screen controls.

In any case, we’re still interested to find out if the concept works. We’ll try to get a review unit and let you know how it goes.

In the meantime, if you’re interested, the Muja controller will available from Indiegogo sometime towards the end of this month. Click here to find out more.
