CONFIRMED: Samsung Galaxy S10 is launching on 20 February 2019

It is finally confirmed. The Samsung Galaxy S10 launch is taking place on 20th February 2019. It will be revealed at a Samsung Unpacked event a few days before Mobile World Congress 2019.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S10 event will be held at San Francisco, California and the series marks the 10th anniversary of the Samsung Galaxy S flagship series. As usual, you can expect Samsung to stream the event live on their website as well as their YouTube channel.

The event is taking place at 11AM PST which is at 3AM Malaysian time on 21st February. If you want to be the first to know about the device, you can drop your registration of interest on Samsung Malaysia’s website.

Galaxy S10: What to expect?

The Galaxy S10 series will feature an Infinity-O display that offers a larger screen with thinner bezels and it has a hole in the display to house the selfie camera. You can expect the top of the line processors including an Exynos 9820 and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood.

For this year, Samsung is said to offer a total of three options – A Galaxy S10 “Lite” with a 5.8″ display, a regular Galaxy S10 with a 6.1″ display and a Galaxy S10+ that comes with a larger 6.4″ display. In the camera department, you can expect to see up to four cameras at the rear following the release of its Galaxy A9. Samsung is also believed to release a special “Bright Nite” mode for the camera app that’s similar to Google’s Night Sight and Huawei’s Night Mode.

Battery capacity is expected to get a reasonable bump this year with the Galaxy S10+ rumoured to get a 4,000mAh capacity. Another new feature to expect is reverse wireless charging which was first introduced on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Another major change is its interface where Samsung will be rolling out its new One UI for all new devices.

Since Malaysia is a key market for Samsung, we expect pre-orders to start almost immediately after the launch. We are guessing that the Galaxy S10 models will be available in Malaysia as soon as end February or early March.
