Huawei Nova 4 launched with in-screen camera and two triple-camera options

The Huawei Nova 4 is finally announced and this is their new selfie-centric smartphone that features a new kind of display. Instead of a notch, it comes with an in-screen camera design where the selfie camera is placed through a hole on the display.

The Huawei Nova 4 comes with a 6.4″ Full HD+ display (2310×1080 pixels) that comes with a slight chin at the bottom. At the rear, the Nova 4 looks like a P20 Pro with its 2+1 triple-camera setup that’s aligned vertically on a dual-curved 3D glass back.

Despite being a new smartphone for 2019, the Nova 4 still runs on a Kirin 970 processor which is the same unit that’s powering the current Nova 3.  However, it gets 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As a comparison, the Honor V20 gets a newer Kirin 980 processor.

For imaging, the front gets a 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera while the rear comes in two different spec options. The higher-spec model gets a 48MP f/1.8 main + 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 depth-of-field camera setup, while the more affordable variant gets a similar setup but with a 20MP sensor for the main shooter. Similar to its predecessor, the device comes with a host of AI photography features.

Powering the Nova 4 is a 3,750mAh battery like this year’s model. It charges via USB-C and Huawei is bundling a 9V2A fast charger. The device features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and it also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Out of the box, it runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0.1 skin on top.

In China, the Huawei Nova 4 with the 48MP camera is going for 3,399CNY (about RM2,058) while the 20MP variant is priced at 3,099CNY (about RM1,876). So far there are no details yet for its Malaysian availability.
