Tim Cook is very proud of the picture on this magazine cover because it’s shot on an iPhone

If it wasn’t pointed out, would you think that this stunning image was taken using an iPhone?

It’s no surprise though, no matter which side of the fence you sit on, you’ll agree that the iPhone (especially in its current iteration) has among the best cameras you can get on a smartphone. There’s a certain quality, a nuance that sets the iPhone apart from many of the competition.

The image shows surfer Mikey Wright in action is on the cover of the current issue of a leading surf magazine, The Surfer’s Journal and Apple CEO, Tim Cook is particularly proud of it. Who can blame him, just look at it…

Loving the cover of the latest @SurfersJournal — #shotoniphone. @ZakNoyle captures the artistry and the athleticism of surfing. Makes us want to catch a wave of our own! 🏄 https://t.co/K1AVbgeD34 pic.twitter.com/HX5QeN72vr

The guys over at Stab Magazine describes the image the best. On a posting about the particular magazine cover, it read: “one of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful images anyone in the Stab staff can recall: Mikey Wright, mid-flight and suspended in a constellation of glistening offshore plumage and bright blue sky.“

Curiously, the image on the back cover of the same magazine issue was also shot using an iPhone though, it wasn’t made clear on which iPhone the image was shot on. Whichever iPhone it is, you’ll agree that this is not a shot that you’ll get one just any day. It is one of those rare occassions where everything is just right. There’s just something about the image that connects with you, it stops you and reaches out to you.

The Surfer Journal’s art director, Jim Newitt explains:
“You’re always looking for those universal images; that speak to everyone. Those are the best ones. Something undeniable.”
