ASUS will be unveiling the ZenFone Max Pro M2 on 11 December 2018. This is their new mid-range smartphone that replaces the current ZenFone Max Pro M1. The official reveal is less than three weeks away and ASUS has just posted a teaser image of the actual device.

From the looks of it, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will come with a larger display with a notch which appears to be a bit narrower than the current ZenFone 5 series. We also get a small glimpse of the back which reveals a 2+1 camera array that’s looks similar to Huawei’s P20 Pro. The camera specs are still unknown but it is likely to offer both telephoto and ultra-wide angle lenses.

The ASUS Indonesia teaser also talks about extra performance, long lasting battery and a stronger display. It isn’t clear if the new device retains the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as the ZenFone Max Pro M1.

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is set to be a strong challenger for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. It’s speculated to run on a more powerful Snapdragon 660 processor along with an affordable variant that runs on a Snapdragon 636 unit. ASUS Malaysia will also have a live stream for the ZenFone Max Pro M2 on 11 December and we expect the device to go on sale shortly after its official announcement.

If this device is priced under RM1,000, this could be the most affordable smartphone with a triple-camera setup. The closest competitor would be the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) which is priced at RM1,299.
