After introducing a series of Galaxy devices with curved displays, Samsung is expected to unveil a new foldable Galaxy smartphone very soon. Today, they have started to drop its first hint of the device and it’s a sign that it could be announced very soon.
If you follow Samsung on Facebook, their profile photo has been changed to a folded Samsung logo as shown above. The folded logo is also seen on its official Samsung Mobile Twitter page.
It is quite unusual for Samsung to twist their logo like that and it’s a sign that this upcoming model is critical for the South Korean smartphone maker. From the looks of it, the upcoming device could be folded from the sides. If this is the case, you could transform the device between a tablet and a dual-screen phone mode.
We haven’t seen the phone yet but do expect their first model to be more of an experimental device. Just take a look at their first curved smartphone, the Galaxy Round which looked ridiculous.
Eventually, they found a practical use for a curved screen with the Galaxy Note Edge and you can now find double curved AMOLED screens on every flagship model. Not only it has additional features via Edge Sense, but it made it possible to fit a larger screen while having a narrower width.
So far there are no release dates yet for the new foldable phone and we are guessing that it could be announced in the next couple of weeks. The new device could be called the Galaxy X. Are you excited for a foldable smartphone? Let us know in the comments below.
