Touch ‘n Go is inviting more users to join the RFID Pilot program but you better hurry

Want to try Touch ‘n Go’s RFID system but missed the first round of pilot registration? Touch ‘n Go has just kicked off its second round of pilot registration and you can sign up now today.

In case you missed it, this new RFID system is a replacement of our current SmartTAG system. Instead of using a card reading unit, Touch ‘n Go will issue you with an RFID sticker that’s placed on your vehicle’s headlamp or windscreen. The toll payments will be deducted directly from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app which can be topped up with your online banking or credit or debit card. You can have multiple RFID stickers linked to a single Touch ‘n Go eWallet account. If you haven’t downloaded the app, it’s currently available on both Android and iOS.

For this second round, Touch ‘n Go hopes to increase the number of RFID uptakes into the system and this will also help them to fine-tune the user experience from pre-registration to tag activation. At the moment, this RFID pilot test covers selected highways in the Klang Valley and Greater Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) and 16 highway concessionaires. Depending on highways, the RFID lane is shared with either SmartTAG or Touch ‘n Go lanes.

To sign up, just register here. They will inform you by email when it’s time to book an appointment for installation. Touch ‘n Go is opening this up to a limited number of users, so you better act fast before they close the registration.

For those who have tried RFID, how’s your experience so far? Is it better than SmartTAG? Do let us know in the comments below.
