OPPO F9 with a smaller notch is coming to Malaysia in August

Following the launch of the OPPO Find X, the selfie-centric smartphone brand will introduce another mid-range smartphone to succeed the OPPO F7. Barely four months since the F7 was launched in Malaysia, OPPO Malaysia has just released a teaser for its upcoming OPPO F9.

According to OPPO, the F9 will adopt a “waterdrop screen design” that boasts a screen to body ratio of 90.8%. As a comparison, the current OPPO F7 has a screen to body ratio of 88% and looking at the teaser above, it appears that the F9 will have a smaller notch than the current F7. Perhaps, the notch is reduced just enough to house the front-facing camera like the Essential Phone.

There are still no details on the device but you can expect 3 variants targeting different price points like its current OPPO F5 and F7 series. It’s speculated that the F9 will still retain the same power-efficient MediaTek Helio P60 processor and it will feature dual-cameras at the rear.

The Malaysian launch of the OPPO F9 will take place in August.

UPDATE: OPPO India has revealed the exterior design of the OPPO F9 Pro. It indeed it has dual-cameras at the rear and a small notch on the front display. According to the teaser below, the F9 Pro also supports VOOC fast charging which claims to provide 2 hours of talk time with just a quick 5-minute charge.
