Samsung’s new wireless charger can charge two devices at the same time

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in August will not only see the reveal of its latest Galaxy Note9. Samsung appears to be working on a new fast wireless charger that could charge more than one phone. This is Samsung’s answer to Apple’s multi-device wireless charging mat that isn’t on sale yet.

Based on the images shared by serial leakster, Roland Quandt, the new charger is called the Wireless Charger Duo. In terms of design, it looks like its typical Fast Wireless Charging stand but there’s an extended bar to support a secondary device.

If we take a closer look at the box, it says that it can support Fast Wireless Charging for both devices and you could either charge two smartphones or one phone with another Qi-Wireless compatible accessory. Interestingly, it also mentions a Galaxy Watch, which is Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch that will succeed its current Samsung Gear series. Usually, Samsung will introduce smartwatches during IFA in Germany but this is a sign that Samsung could be announcing it during the same Unpacked event that’s happening on 9 August 2018.

When the iPhone X was announced last year, Apple had also introduced its AirPower Mat which is designed to charge multiple devices on a single pad. It hasn’t released to the market yet due to reported “technical hurdles” and word has it that it could go on sale sometime in September this year. Since the Galaxy Note9 is coming out next month, it looks like Samsung is releasing their Wireless Charger Duo earlier.
