The OPPO Find X with its revolutionary sliding camera mechanism will be arriving in Malaysia next week and vivo isn’t going to sit quietly on the sidelines. vivo Malaysia has just announced that they will be bringing in their latest NEX smartphone into our market and it could go on sale within the next couple of months.

Following its official reveal on 12 June, the selfie-centric smartphone maker has confirmed that the vivo NEX will be launched in Malaysia in Q3 2018. No exact dates were provided and this is a wide timeframe between now until the end of September 2018.

To refresh your memory, the vivo NEX features a 6.59″ AMOLED display that boasts a 91.24% screen to body ratio with a screen resolution of 2316×1080. Under the hood, it runs on a top of the line Snapdragon 845 processor and over at the rear, it comes with a 12MP f/1.8 + 5MP f/2.4 dual-camera combo that has 4-axis optical image stabilisation.

For selfies, the 8MP f/2.0 front camera is hidden with a pop-up mechanism which can be activated in just 1 second. According to vivo, they have tested this pop-up hardware extensively and it can withstand over 50,000 pop-ups without failure.

Instead of a traditional earpiece, the NEX emits sound through the display which is similar to the original Xiaomi Mi MIX’s piezoelectric speaker. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery which charges via USB-C.

In China, the high-spec vivo NEX with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is going for 4,498 CNY (about RM2,739) while the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version is priced at 4,998 CNY (about RM3,044). As a comparison, the OPPO Find X with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is going for 4,999 CNY which is about RM3,045.
