Huawei P20 Pro will get automatic super slow-mo mode like the Galaxy S9

After Sony introduced its 960fps super slow-mo on its flagship smartphones, other manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei have jumped on the same bandwagon. Among the three, Samsung currently has the best execution with its automatic motion detection feature on the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

Instead of pressing the shutter button, you can draw a box and it will automatically trigger a slow-mo recording the moment a movement is detected. This makes it easier to capture super slow-mo as it’s quite tricky to capture the shot in a split-second moment.

If you have a Huawei P20 Pro, it appears that Huawei is introducing a similar feature very soon.

According to a thread on XDA Developers forum, some users have noticed some changes for the camera with the upcoming P20 Pro ROM. The first is an automatic super-slow-mo mode where it gets a selection box similar to the Galaxy S9. As you can see below, the super-slow-mo starts the moment it detects a movement in the selected area.

Another tweak to the camera UI is its zoom interface. Instead of a round button, the new version uses a square box which you can swipe to zoom in and out.

Apart from these changes, the latest update will also carry the latest 1 June 2018 security patch. So far there are no details yet on its official release but we reckon that it should be rolled out globally very soon. If you’re wondering what you can do in 960 fps, check out our video below that’s captured on a Galaxy S9+.
