The Xiaomi Mi 8 is now on sale in Malaysia

The Mi 8 is Xiaomi’s latest flagship that comes with a notch and it features the world’s first dual-frequency GPS for greater accuracy. This flagship device was announced last week and if you can’t wait to get your hands on one, it’s now available in Malaysia.

Retailer Mobile2Go is now offering imported units of the Mi 8. The base 6GB RAM + 64GB model is going for RM2,199 while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at RM2,499. At the moment, they are only offering black (128GB only) and white options.

During the launch, Xiaomi had introduced 3 different models and this is their standard flagship that doesn’t come with the cool looking translucent glass back design, 3D face unlock and in-screen fingerprint sensor.

To recap, the Mi 8 gets a 6.2″ Super AMOLED display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution in an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. As you would expect, it is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor. Like any Mi flagship, it lacks a microSD card expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

In the imaging department, it has similar camera hardware as the Mi MIX 2S with a 12MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS and a secondary 12MP f/2.4 shooter that does optical zoom and bokeh portrait effects. There’s also AI scene recognition and studio lighting modes. Meanwhile, the front comes with a 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera with a host of AI beautification features.

Juicing up this flagship is a 3,400mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 4+ via USB-C. If you’re interested, you can check out Mobile2Go’s Mi 8 page.

Would you get an imported Mi 8 at RM2,199 or the Mi MIX 2S with official warranty at RM1,999? Let us know in the comments below.
