The full screen Mi MIX 2S with Mi Malaysia warranty is coming soon

UPDATE: The Mi MIX 2S is officially available in Malaysia from 1 June from less than RM2,000.

For those looking for a different kind of flagship smartphone, the Mi MIX 2S is coming to Malaysia very soon. This is Xiaomi’s ultimate flagship smartphone that comes with a notch-less full-screen display and it has a pair of AI-enhanced dual-cameras that’s apparently on par with the iPhone X.

It has been two months since the Mi MIX 2S was announced in China and Mi Malaysia has just started teasing the device on their Facebook page. The MIX 2S has also gotten the SIRIM green light so it’s just a matter of time before it goes on sale in Malaysia.

Overall, the Mi MIX 2S is essentially an update of its previous Mi MIX 2. The front still retains a 5.99″ 18:9 IPS display that pushes a 2160×1080 pixel resolution. The display stretches edge to edge towards the top, which leaves the 5MP selfie camera on the right of its bottom chin.

The MIX 2S internals have been upgraded from a Snapdragon 835 to a newer Snapdragon 845 unit that’s mated with up to 8GB of RAM. In the camera department, the dual 12MP + 12MP setup features dual pixel autofocus that’s assisted with OIS. It also gets a larger 1.4 micron pixel size for better low light performance.

The secondary camera is used for depth of field effects and it can take photos with fancy bokeh light effects with AI. According to DxOMark, the Mi MIX 2S scores 97 points which is the same as the iPhone X.

Powering the Mi MIX 2S is a 3,400mAh battery which now supports Qi Wireless charging. There’s no headphone jack which means you’ll need to plugin your headphones with a USB-C dongle.

In China, the base 6GB RAM and 64GB model is going for 3,299CNY (about RM2,056) while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option is priced at 3,599CNY (about RM2,243). The top of the line Mi MIX 2S with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is officially going for 3,999 CNY (about RM2,493).

For Malaysia, the current Mi MIX 2 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage was officially released at RM2,199 and we are guessing that the new Mi MIX 2S should hover around the RM2,200-RM2,400 when it lands here.

If you don’t mind the previous version that’s powered by Snapdragon 835 processor, it’s currently going for as low as RM1,699 for 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage, while the full ceramic white version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at RM2,299.
