Porsche Design Mate RS Malaysia

UPDATE: Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS will be available from 18 May 2018.

For those interested in the Huawei P20 Pro but looking for something more exclusive, the Porsche Design Mate RS is now available in Malaysia. This is a premium version of the P20 Pro that has a “notch-less” FullView display and it also comes with a LEICA Triple-Camera setup.

The Porsche Design Mate RS is officially priced at RM6,999 which is lower than its European pricing. During the global launch, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS was listed at 1,695EUR (about RM8016) for the 256GB version and 2095EUR (about RM9907) for the 512GB capacity model. At RM6,999, this is the same price tag as the previous Porsche Design Mate 10 and Mate 9.

The Mate RS is Huawei’s third Porsche Design smartphone and it has greater differentiation from the Huawei P20 Pro. In front, it has a 6.0″ Quad HD+ 2880×1440 OLED display that comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Powering the device is a top-of-the-line Kirin 970 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM and it comes with a choice of either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

In the imaging department, it has a 40MP f/1.8 + 20MP f/1.6 + 8MP f/2.4 cameras for the rear which offers 3X Optical Zoom like the P20 Pro. It also gets a 24MP front-facing camera. The main cameras are placed vertically in the middle and the Mate RS also retains a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh battery which supports both Super Charge and Wireless Charging. There’s also IP67 dust and water resistance, and out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 skin on top.

For Malaysia, the Porsche Design Mate RS is currently available in Black with 256GB of storage. If you’re interested, you can check out the Porsche Design Mate RS page on DirectD. Don’t want to pay RM6,999 upfront? DirectD is also offering monthly installments of RM583.25 for 12 months.

UPDATE: The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is also available via Huawei Malaysia’s official store on Lazada Malaysia. They are also including a Huawei VIP Card (3 months screen crack warranty), Huawei Super Charge Car Charger, Huawei Super Charge 10,000mAh Power Bank and X-One screen protector that worth a total of RM599. According to Huawei, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is limited to only 200 units and it will go on sale on 18 May 2018.
