honor’s flagship killer will launch in Malaysia in two weeks!

honor is one of the handful companies you can turn to when you want a flagship smartphone — with almost all of the bells and whistles — for the kind of money you’d pay for a mid-ranger. And their latest flagship smartphone, the honor 10, is a killer handset that you will soon be able to buy in Malaysia.

honor Malaysia has revealed that the honor 10 will be launched locally on the 22nd of May 2018. Considering the global launch of this handset will only take place on the 15th of May, we’re getting this device pretty darn quickly.

This new flagship smartphone’s core strength lies in its specs relative to its price tag. If you’re looking at the honor 10 like an affordable version of the Huawei P20, you’d be right, only the best part is that it can also stand toe-to-toe with the more expensive Huawei handset.

In front, the device sports a 5.84″ Full HD+ 19:9 IPS LCD display. Its got a notch, yes, so you’re either going to hate it or not really care for it. I’m one of the rare few that actually likes notches so there’s a bit of trivia for you.

The honor 10 launched earlier in China with a Kirin 970 processor inside, mated to either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. According to Lowyat.net, the Malaysian version will come running the 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage combination. I think that’s a wise choice since the honor 10 doesn’t support microSD storage expansion.

For photos, you’re getting a dual camera module at the back and a 24MP selfie camera up front. The main rear shooter uses a combination of a 24MP sensor and a 16MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture lenses and a bunch of AI enhancements. Keeping everything powered is a 3,400 mAh battery.

It’s unfortunate that the device doesn’t come with IP67/IP68 water and dust resistance, but then again neither does the Huawei P20 so keep it out of water if you can.

Right now, the key thing we have no information about is its price. In China, the smartphone launched with a base price of around RM1,600 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant retailed for around RM1,860. However, they didn’t reveal the price of the 4GB variants so it’s hard for us to give a good guess.

If we’re looking at the old honor 8, that device had prices starting at RM1,699 for the 4GB RAM + 32GB storage base model and went up to RM1,899 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. Our guess is that the 4GB + 128GB could hover somewhere in that range and should not exceed RM2,000.
