vivo V9 hardware specs revealed ahead of launch

vivo will be announcing its selfie-centric “notch” smartphone with the vivo V9. Before it is officially revealed in the next couple of weeks, the full specs and features are now revealed thanks to vivo India’s online store.

According to the spec sheet, the V9 will get a 6.3″ FullHD+ IPS display that pushes a taller 2280×1080 pixels resolution in a 19:9 display aspect ratio. This is similar to the OPPO R15 which will be announced very soon.

Under the hood, the V9 is clearly a mid-range device and it’s a major upgrade over the current V7. While it isn’t the Snapdragon 660 processor that we hoped for, it is listed with a Snapdragon 626 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. There’s 64GB of storage which is expandable via a dedicated microSD card slot.

As seen in the earlier promo video, the V9 will carry a 24MP f/2.0 selfie camera with a host of features including AI Face Beauty. vivo is also adding AR stickers which could be their version of Animoji or AR Emoji. Meanwhile, the rear gets a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup.

Powering the device is a 3,260mAh battery and it runs on FunTouch OS 4.0 which is based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. The vivo V9 will be available in Black and Gold. At the moment, the online store is putting a placeholder price tag of 10,000,000INR but we reckon it could be going for about RM1,500++ when it hits Malaysia.
