This probably confirms the design of the Huawei P20

UPDATE: The front of the Huawei P20/P20 Plus has surfaced online and it gives us a clear look at the notch display and fingerprint sensor placement.

After the Galaxy S9/S9+, the next biggest smartphone launch to look forward to is Huawei’s upcoming P20 series. We’ve seen a couple of renders and prototype hands-on, but this could be the most legit look yet at the P20.

A new device has appeared on China’s TENAA database that carries the model number EML-TL00. It shows all sides of the phone and it comes with a dual-camera bump that’s placed vertically on the top left end corner. The text for the HUAWEI and LEICA branding for the rear are placed in such an orientation to look upright when the phone is held in landscape mode.

It looks pretty close to @onleaks’ render for the P20 Lite but it has a fingerprint sensor placed at the front, like the current P10. We couldn’t see the actual screen clearly so it could look like the Huawei Mate 10 or perhaps they could add more “screen” by stretching the display to the top edges while having a “notch” design. On the previous prototype unit, there was no physical fingerprint sensor and the volume rocker appears to be replaced with a pressure/touch sensitive surface.

On the question of whether Huawei is still releasing a tri-camera smartphone, there’s now a new teaser that still shows triple circles that transforms to #OOO. These are strong indicators that the next flagship will come with three main cameras but it could be exclusive to its top of the line P20 Plus or P20 Pro model. The video also confirms that the next model will be called the P20, which is a huge jump in number from the P10. The launch event is taking place on 27 March in Paris.

UPDATE: Two purported press images appear for both the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus. Matching TENAA’s certification image, the Huawei P20 will get a front facing fingerprint sensor and we get to see the notch at the top of both the device which houses two cameras.

For the P20 Plus, it gets a larger screen and the fingerprint sensor below is replaced with Huawei’s branding. If you look at the side buttons, you’ll notice three separate buttons for the P20 while the P20 Plus has a power button and a longer volume rocker.
