Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+: Almost everything you need to know is now revealed

The Galaxy S9/S9+ will be one of the most anticipated launches at MWC 2018 which will be taking place next week. With just a week to go, German site Winfuture has revealed pretty much everything you need to know about the latest Samsung flagships.

Colours

As shared by @evleaks, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will come in 4 colour options – Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, Titanium Gray and Coral Blue. Among the four, Lilac Purple is their latest colour option which is different from the current Orchid Grey.

Infinity Display with thinner bottom

The displays on the Galaxy S9/S9+ appears to be identical with the Galaxy S8/S8+ that pushes a Quad HD resolution of 2960×1440. The noticeable difference is the chin of the display which is now thinner compared to the forehead of the device. On the earlier renders, it appears that the curved edges are thicker but this latest leak seems to confirm that it would be as “bezel-less” as their current S8/S8+.

Stereo Sound

For the first time on a Galaxy flagship, Samsung is finally introducing stereo speakers on the Galaxy S9/S9+. Tuned by AKG, it uses both the bottom firing loudspeaker as well as its earpiece speaker to produce stereo sound.

Variable Aperture Camera

Photography will be a big focus for the Galaxy S9/S9+. Both models will feature a 12MP variable aperture camera which can switch between f/2.4 and f/1.5. For the bigger Galaxy S9+, it comes with a secondary 12MP f/2.4 camera which is also optically stabilised. The front still gets a similar 8MP f/1.7 selfie camera that comes with autofocus. In terms of features, the new camera will also support a super-slow-mo mode but so far there’s no mention of its frame-rate and resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S9

The Galaxy S9 will retain the same 5.8″ Infinity Display that has an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio like the current S8. It gets either a top-of-the-line Exynos 9810 Octa-Core processor or a Snapdragon 845 unit, depending on which region you’re in.

Like the current Galaxy S8 flagship, the Galaxy S9 will get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable via microSD up to 400GB. Powering the device is still a modest 3,000mAh battery which is charged via USB Type-C. Of course, there’s still the option to charge wirelessly.

Samsung Galaxy S9+

For the Galaxy S9+, it is more than just a bigger S9 with a bigger battery. Apart from having a larger 6.2″ display and a dual-camera setup, the S9+ has 6GB of RAM, while having 64GB of storage. The battery is similar to the current S8+ with a 3,500mAh capacity unit. For a better comparison, below is the full spec sheet which was shared by WinFuture.

The Galaxy S9/S9+ Unpacked event will take place on 25 February 2018, and it will be streamed live at 1AM 26 February, Malaysian time.

UPDATE: @evleaks has shared more clear images for both the Galaxy S9/S9+.
